The Nonsense is Back, Evolved as Ever!

Racing. Track featured is Trial Mountain v5.3 by nomscar.

Well, I had to say that I wasn't as active in blogging as before, not knowing what I had to write. That, however, has changed and the motivation returns to me after a series of events in the past few weeks. I had doubts that people would still read blogs now that people are more interested towards video blogs, but even then some things are better done as a blog post rather than a video blog, especially when I think about the fact that I haven't had the sufficient resources for it.

Back to My Turbo Sliders Nonsense...

Don't worry, it's just a mockup. You need to calm down!

So apparently last month saw me suffering from what I may call as the Ramadan Blues, sort of like Monday Blues but in the fasting month, in which in this case I ended up spending more time on bed than on the computer, apart from break fasting with friends at some point, plus some near-Eid works like house cleaning and new clothes. Even despite promising myself doing a lot of stuffs like continuing my 3D works or stuff like that, the only finished product I managed to produce in the last fasting month is none other than the E!Online TV ship competition recap, analysis, and spreadsheet, and not even race car-related stuffs like, for instance, the Formula car I just did prior to the fasting month, or any of my Turbo Sliders projects.

No later than one week past Eid, I started to have an urge to return to the creator's desk, and I just did, simply by opening one of my existing references and tried a new approach at carmaking. It turns out doing a new approach on the carmaking, which I will explain later here, is actually fun and more hassle-free than the last time I did. Apparently, I restarted with a bang as I jot down three main cars as a new WIP of mine and actually completed one for my long-term project. Earlier before the fasting month, I did work on one new track which I was inspired after watching the first World Tour event of the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Sport Championship, of which one of the tracks used was the latest addition at that time, being the Autopolis Circuit in Oita Prefecture, Japan, and I did another car as well...

The 360 (No, not the Endurance Race Project!)

Apologizes yet again for the almost-zero activity in my blog this month, because I had to prioritize my unfinished Internship business, which I had to wrestle with a software I am remaking due to my advisor demanding a fix since a couple of months ago, which unfortunately took its toll to my motivation to combine the two applications. What's worse is that my "brute force" approach (read: literally going without any plan whatsoever) also costed a lot in the remaking, so I had to make a concrete plan as I restart this process. Nevertheless, I have to soldier on.

Between the process of "soldiering on", however, I peeked at two of the already-downloaded ZIP and RAR files on my laptop. These two files hold some of the interesting cars that can be useful for my next batch of projects. I'm very amazed at how the roster for those packs are considering that they do relate to what my big project really needs.

Those files are in fact Whiplash's unfinished car packs, divided into two different packs. These cars, while having no defined physics as they are "unfinished cars", exactly what the tin says, have 360 rotated images which reflects the lighting for each rotation. In addition, these cars are taken from 3D models of Forza Motorsport series, of which car models for this series are available at... drumrolls please, this site, of all others.

Future Prospects for 2016

Here's to yet another exciting year! (Image: Digital Trends)

So, this is the first post of 2016 in RENDY'S BLOG. Opening up a new chapter, I am continuing some of my existing WIPs and making new ones. However, there will be changes of how I will do them as in real life I will be focusing on my Internship phase in my college before finally going to the final phase of making a Final Paper and finally getting some job. The playing field is vast, but once you have a certain focus or two you can narrow down and find your best field.

As always, I'm focusing on Turbo Sliders WIPs, but I've got some space for my skinning projects considering that the array of models since the last post about skinning has grown a lot and the roster has become more and more interesting as time progresses.

October Round-up: Site Redesign, More TS Features, GR Race recaps, Oh My!

Well, opening up the first October post is a Round-up that reports things that I'm up into and recaps things I have been into. So many happenings happen between the last post and this post. This post will underline yet new features implemented in the future version of Turbo Sliders as well as showcasing a new car of mine while writing something about implementing an all-new physics which doesn't involve an antislide value of 7. Also in this post is the recap of what I've been through in GR competitions I'm joining in. All that and a special bit of paragraphs following these topics. But first thing's first: the non top-down racing game-centered post...

[R]-GARAGE is a GO!

Finally, after years of not updating my own game stuffs site since RendyTuned, [R]-GARAGE is a go! This is yet another evolution of my site. From my old, forgotten, and defunct Turbo Sliders-centric tripod site, to the aformentioned RendyTuned which named after an arcade video game and focus not only on TS but other games like GeneRally, to THIS.

One of the most noticeable features is the slideshows showing games that I play. To this date, only TS and GR that are featured, but I will feature more screens from different games I play. And true to the site's intention, I've added new TS creations, both cars and tracks. The new tracks are Hueco Mundo and Gran Canaria.

Hueco Mundo

Admit it, the moment Hueco Mundo pops out, you might think that it's related to Bleach (that is if you happen to be a fan of Bleach). It isn't...

I didn't remember the Hollow World had grasses...

It was intended to have all covered in snow since Hueco Mundo is a white desert, yet it ended up being a normal racing track in which the ice covers the grass, but there's snow along the course. The course is set in a very small island dedicated for racing that can only be accessed when the lake freezes. Is this thing close enough to this?

The course features twisty turns and only one long straight, which is the start/finish straight. The rest are series of turns. There are two hairpins, and a tad many chicanes throughout the course, but this makes default car racing (especially with EasySlider, Slider, and/or Antislider) much exciting. The muddy shortcut at the first turn is just a distraction; I don't know why I added it...

Is it just me or am I feeling that Sousuke Aizen would set a best lap here? Not really...

Download it here before some Hollow World monsters bite you.

Gran Canaria

The latest of my photoshopped tracks roster. This track is so special because not only is it a super special track (which is the nth Super SS course in the Turbo Sliders universe after Tijny's T_RoC-01 and Lanz's Show Event course for PTM, and it's my second btw :shh:), it pays tribute to the old days of Race of Champions. Back then, it was held in a closed circuit of Gran Canaria (Canary Isles btw) and there were champions from many motorsport disciplines battling it out to be the "Champions of Champions". The reason why I made this because I was high in playing Michelin Rally Masters, an RoC game. Trust me, Race of Champions better visit Gran Canaria once again, because I felt the stadium RoC tracks, while they are also exciting, doesn't quite give the challenge.

It's not a Gran Canaria. I know, but this pretty much explains Rally Masters alone

The race takes you to the tarmac terrains, and after you pass the first hairpin, you play with dirt. There are jumps to tackle, and this is the first time I've created a tile dedicated to... jumping. Yeah, what's the point if there are no rally jumps? The default jump tile doesn't do the justice...

The battle doesn't end there; as you cross the lane-changing bridge/tunnel, there's a section that will determine your fate in the race if you play online, one on one. One mistake and you're done for. At last, the race returns to the tarmac where you will have to drive the last corner. Now that you're on the different lane, you continue driving until you drive a lap. Believe me, this track is really exciting, especially if you want to play with your friends online.

Drive it NOW!

New Cars

Also made are new cars; these cars are new additions to my collection of stuffs. The last time I made a car was Formula Smash Bros, which is a 70s Formula 1 car that's got speed. That doesn't even released to my site, only the TS site. Same thing is done with my Antislider CT230R which is a combination of AntiSlider, an image of TSB Antitiurbo + Whiplash's AntiF1, and a trait of having a control that's as close as simulation. The hard handling makes you really need to find your perfect driving line. And didn't I mention that the car has a muse?

If not because of this car, it might not be an Antislider CT230R...

Now allow me to present a new stuff in the year of 2013, the same year which I got high on Rally Masters: Formula 2 Kit Cars! A collection of late 90s front-wheeled light-weighted beasts packed with acceleration that rampaged Tour de Corse! No, I'm serious!

Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car, a cult rally car that once made rallying fandom overwhelmed by it. It proved its worth to its more-powerful WRC competitors by placing 2nd in the 1998 Tour de Corse rally in the hands of Francois Delecour. It's also featured in Taxi 2 film where Schlesser guy is being overtaken by Daniel's taxi. No wonder 306 Maxi would be a phenomenon and one-hit-wonder for the short-lived Formula 2 class...

The pack contains seven selected kit cars: Peugeot 306 Maxi, Citroen Xsara, Renault Maxi Megane (Team Diac colors), Nissan Almera, Hyundai Coupe EVO II, Skoda Octavia KC, and finally Seat Ibiza EVO II. All cars have different performances. These cars are almost like Antislider, except that it performs better than the Anti and are drivable in off-road conditions; mud, gravel, loose gravel, and snow.

Get 'em here!

In conclusion, this blog will be [R]-GARAGE's feed, which you can see on the very first front page. This blog will keep you tracked on my stuffs' releases, WIPs, and randoms.

Happy driving!
